Biography:
Brittany Toll, (born September 27, 1986) was Miss New Mexico Teen USA 2005 and a top 10 finalist at Miss Teen USA 2005. Brittany from Las Cruces, New Mexico and is a 2009 from New Mexico State University. She received her marketing degree and was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha women's sorority. In her spare time she enjoys baking and playing with her cats.
Brittany attended New Mexico State University where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha women's sorority and held the position of President in 2008. She graduated from NMSU with honors in May of 2009 with a major in marketing and a minor in advertising. Immediately after graduation she began her work with Teach For America. She is now a pre-kindergarten teacher at Rocky View Elementary School in Gallup and will complete her 2-year commitment with Teach For America this spring.
Brittany loves teaching and loves her students. During Brittany's first year of teaching her classroom received the honor of being named a Òmodel classroom" in the Gallup McKinley County School district because her students were highly invested in their classroom goals and their education. Brittany believes that in order to solve the poverty crisis in America we must first ensure that every child receives and excellent education so that they are able to attend college and lead prosperous and happy lives. This is what motivates Brittany to be the best teacher that she can be. Brittany also works as the director of the after-school program at Rocky View Elementary and teaches an art class for older students twice a week.
When Brittany manages to find free time in her busy schedule she enjoys spending it with the people who mean most to her, her friends and family. She enjoys traveling, around the state of New Mexico, reading, playing board games, and expressing her creativity through painting, drawing, or designing. She says, ÒI love any opportunity that will allow me to challenge my creativity and create something unique." Brittany likes to learn new things, meet new people, and try new food, and she is also a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern New Mexico.
Brittany's next steps are to further her education by attending graduate school in the study of psychology or early childhood development. She plans on becoming an advocate for early childhood education and development. She also aspires to become a children's book author and illustrator and she is currently in the process of writing her first book.
